Monday Munchies: Snap Pea Snack Time

One of the hardest things for me is finding semi-healthy things to eat for snacks. My natural tendency isn't to grab a piece of fruit... I tend to run to the pantry and grab a bag of chips and eat lots and lots of them.

One healthy thing I do love is hummus though, especially jalapeño hummus. But I typically grab some pita chips to eat it with. Not so great- considering that carbs are my biggest weakness (and chocolate of course.)

I've found the solution: Sugar Snap Peas!

I'm not a huge veggie lover, but I do love these! They have a bit of a sweet hint to them, so with the jalapeño hummus, it's a good balance.

It's the perfect snack for when I'm out all day long because I can grab the little handy bag that Publix puts them in and take a baby hummus (Spongbob anyone?) and have a healthy and filling snack on the go!

This has become my go-to snack lately and I love that it's guilt-free!

Snack up!

What's your favorite healthy snack?

It's Official

I've finally got my closet sale in the works.

Over Thanksgiving break, it will be a page on here and I will be selling off a large portion of my closet. I would go to a Plato's Closet (but they give you like 5 cents for a shirt) or Tradesy or something, but I figure I can probably get rid of them faster and more efficiently on my own.

I'll post some previews of the clothes I'll be selling over the next month. But I'm super excited to clean out my closet to get some new pieces... Like the ones I'll be blogging about later today.

Happy Friday!

Getting the Kinks Out

My blog does a really good job of informing people when I'm super busy without me having to say anything. Seriously. Nothing happens here.

It goes without saying that I've been busy- which I knew was going to happen. October has been complete chaos. Wonderful chaos. But chaos nonetheless.

I've been to Tennessee twice, I'm going to Florida next weekend, I'm hosting a 5K this weekend, oh and school. Yeah, that. Forget about it. So I decided to get things together before I reached this point:

I went on a mission this week to get everything back in order before the biggest weekend of the year next weekend. Instead of slaving away over the 8 million things I needed to do and stressing out about it all day- I took an hour to myself and got a massage.

And it wasn't until afterwards that I realized how badly I actually needed it. The masseuse spent the majority of the time attempting to get the knots out of my neck and shoulders. She probably thinks I shoot up with protein and calcium or something. It was pretty rough.

After leaving there I felt like a new person. I had my phone on "Do Not Disturb" mode for an hour and no one died. I relaxed for an hour and didn't feel guilty. It was great. And I wish I had the money to indulge myself like that regularly. Someday, someday maybe.

But in reality, this hour of my day made me realize that sometimes, no matter how stressed you are, you need to take some time for yourself. Not a nap, not an hour in front of a TV. But an hour doing something completely for yourself. Painting your nails, reading a book, getting a mani/pedi. Something.

And for me today, that was an hour getting the kinks out.

What do you do to get away from it all?

Monday Munchies: Bertolli Roasted Chicken Risotto

We all know that frozen meals really aren't very good for you. So much sodium and preservatives and all the bad stuff. But as a college student, I keep frozen meals in my freezer all the time and I normally only eat them when I've run out of groceries and don't have time to go to the store again.

One of my go-to's is Bertolli's Skillet Meals for Two. They have about a million different kinds and it's perfect because I can eat half then save the other half for lunch or dinner the next day. They are so yummy, but they aren't particularly good for you.

But I've found one that is delicious and won't ruin your whole day's worth of sodium and calories.

Bertolli Roasted Chicken Risotto

It's got rice, asparagus, mushrooms and chicken in a nommy cheese sauce. And it only takes about 10 minutes to whip up. You literally just dump the contents of the bag in a skillet and boom meal.

Here's the nutritional info on it:

While the sodium count is still a little too high for my liking, at least the calories aren't crazy. And it's an extremely filling 340 calories.

If you spend your time running around like a crazy person and forget to feed yourself, these are great to keep in the freezer for a quick and easy meal. And it's semi-healthy-- there are veggies. Winning.

What do you always keep in your freezer?

Monday Munchies: Talenti Gelato Pops

The only thing I crave more than Mexican food is sweets. And if I can find a way to get my sweet fix without completely ruining my time spent in the gym, count me in.

And I think I may have hit the jackpot.. Talenti Gelato Pops.

I've only tried the Sea Salt Caramel flavor, but I'm completely in love and obsessed. Gelato is so nommy, and dip it in chocolate and put it on a stick? I'm down.

And the best part? Only 170 calories per bar. The saturated fat count is a little high, but whatever. I'll deal.

I'm pumped to try some of the other flavors as well. I can't turn down anything covered in chocolate really, let's be honest.

Have you ever tried any of Talenti's Gelato? What's the best flavor?

Currently Swooning: Tuckernuck

If you know anything about me, know that fall is my favorite season. Football season, I finally stop sweating 24/7, beautiful landscapes, (I'm gonna say it- PSLs) and the clothes? To die for

In my opinion, the best part of fall is being able to throw on a giant sweater and leave the house and still look pulled together-- which is such a challenge for me on a daily basis.

And lately I've been dying over just about everything on Tuckernuck's website. So this is just a small, small collection of the greatest fall has to offer.

Elizabeth McKay Heidi Knit Shirt Dress- $265

If I had all of the money in the world, all of this would be in my closet right this second. I may have to splurge on a couple of these before it's too late in the season.

What are you loving this fall?

October Workout Jams

I don't know about y'all, but I find that I get sick of my workout playlists so quickly. So each month, I try to go back through my playlist and change it up so I don't get on the Stairmaster and want to bang my head against the wall.

I found the best of this month's upbeat music and created the perfect 45-minute workout playlist.

Say what you want about my musical choices, but these songs will get you moving during your workout.

These past few weeks, a lot of really good CDs have come out too-- so I'll probably have more playlists in the future. Expect lots of country when I head to Nashville in T-minus 10 days. I'm not counting or anything.

What's your favorite song to workout to right now?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Monday Munchies: Chobani Flip

I should have known this was going to sneak up on me quickly. And it did.

It's Monday. I've been out of town all weekend. And today has been a mess.

So, rather than my usual recipe, I've got one of my favorite snacks.

Chobani Flip

Moment of honesty: I am not a huge fan of greek yogurt. It's too tart and has a weird texture sometimes and just doesn't do much for me. I know I should like it, because it's so good for you... And that's why I gave these a try.

And they are absolutely amazing. I've tried 6 of the 10 flavors and the key lime, strawberry, and coconut almond are my favorites. Hands down.

If you are skeptical about greek yogurt or if you love greek yogurt-- you've got to give these a try! They are perfect for breakfast, as a snack, or (my guilty pleasure) for dessert. NOM.

What's your favorite greek yogurt brand/flavor?
