This week my gym (which I've raved about on here probably way too many times) is having a week of free TRX and kettlebell classes. Me and Brittany decided to try out one of our favorite instructor's TRX class yesterday: TRX & Turf.
And we died.
TRX is something I never knew existed until I started going to Omni, and I've always been curious. It's suspension training, originally developed by a Navy Seal and it has been used for military training for a while now. And it's focused on core training and full body, body-weight, strength training.
I'd like to say that I rocked it today, but after the turf portion, TRX just about killed me. On the turf, we did some High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with some kettlebell squat thrusts, walking lunges, squat jumps, medicine ball tosses and sled pushes.
Purse misery, but so worth it.
(This watch, by the way, is basically my favorite thing ever.)
The TRX portion was mind-blowingly difficult. And a different experience, that's for sure. We didn't do anything super crazy, like this:
We kept it basic with some bicep work, rows, and squats. Throw a few burpees in there and you've got yourself a dead Caley. This is what most of what we did probably looked like:
If TRX is offered somewhere near you, I would definitely suggest trying it out. It's a different way to work your muscles and mix things up in your workout. I normally stick with bootcamp style classes, cycle classes, and Power classes, so this was a nice way to work muscles in different ways.
And depending on how sore I am, I may try this again later in the week.
Have you ever taken a TRX class?
