Reassurance

Last night I blogged about that moment when you realize you fit where you think you do. And you are doing what you love.

Today I was reassured of that. My professor talked with me for an hour or so today about how he can help me get where I want to go, because he sees potential in me.

It's the little things you do that make the biggest difference. And now I'm so pumped for my future.

And I leave you with a quote...

What has been inspiring you lately?

That Awesome Moment When...

Have you ever had one of those moments where you realize you are actually on the right path in life?

That may sound dramatic, but I think most everyone has had something like this happen. Whether it was that moment of thrill you felt the first time you published a story. Or that excitement after hosting a successful event.

There is just this feeling you get sometimes where everything just feels... right.

Today was one of those days.

After sweating bullets, trucking it across a giant golf course, having an acute allergy attack, and stalking a leader board full of strangers... It dawned on me. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Everyone has something that makes them tick. My "thing" is sports. And sports writing in particular. To me, there is nothing more thrilling than sitting down after the craziest game/match/event you've ever witnessed and putting it into words so someone else, somewhere, can try and experience what you just did.

If you aren't a journalist, it's hard to explain. If you aren't a sports fanatic, it's hard to explain. But it's just one of those things.

Today I felt reassured that all the hard work, late nights, and frustration is all actually paying off in some way. I'm getting where I really want to go. And where I feel at home.

Have you ever had one of those moments?

Summer Makeup Essentials

It is officially summertime and I don't know about you, but I'm PUMPED!

And with summer weather comes summer heat. Which doesn't fare well with someone who sweats as much as I do. This means my makeup needs a little bit of a modification.

You want to look carefree and feel carefree in the summer. So the key is minimal makeup that makes you look like you have a natural glow (all while making sure your makeup doesn't melt.)

Step 1: Urban Decay NAKED SKIN BB Cream

This stuff will literally change your life. I've used other BB creams before, but this stuff is so lightweight and gives you just as much coverage as you need for the heat. My other favorite thing? It only comes in one shade and actually adjusts to your skin tone. It's the best.

Step 2: Urban Decay NAKED FLUSHED Pallet
Blush, bronzer, and highlighter in one pallet? SAY NO MORE. I use this pallet to highlight and contour as well as for blush. It's a one-stop-shop for the perfect summer glow.

Step 3: Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer
I'm a bronzer fanatic. So after I use a matte bronzer, like the one above, I like to add a little more sparkle and color to my cheeks, without taking it overboard. Plus, it's summer. A little bit of bronze is all you need.

Step 4: Too Faced Summer Eyes Pallet
As if everything Too Faced produces doesn't turn to gold, this pallet is PERFECTION. Such cute summer-y fun colors for the perfect look for day or night.

Step 5: Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner & CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof Mascara
In the summer, it's gotta be waterproof. (I wear waterproof ALL the time, but it is necessary in the summer.) You can't have your makeup melting everywhere.

5 simple steps to getting the perfect easy summer look!

What are your favorite summer beauty products?

Memorial Day Sales EVERYWHERE!

I can't resist a good sale. It's one of my best (and worst) qualities. And right now it's becoming a problem. There are so many places that have AH-mazing sales going on today! Three of my favorites are currently spoiling me and I'm having a hard time resisting.

Nordstrom: Half-Yearly Sale

I'm always in heaven when this happens. Nords is my favorite place. Ever. I'm probably snatching up a couple handbags and some wedges. I can't resist.

J.Crew

Sale on sale is always a good way to go. J.Crew is winning this weekend, as usual.

J.Crew Factory

50% off everything. SAY NO MORE. I'm in.

Lucky Brand

40% MORE off sale items. If you are looking for some cute jeans for fall- grab these now. They also have some seriously cute tops on sale too!

Any other good sales I need to know about?!

Summer Purse Problem!

Through middle school and high school, I had a huge handbag obsession. But once I got to college, I just needed to be able to reach for some more convenient than cute.

That's when I purchased my first Longchamp 'Le Pliage' large tote in black. I then used it for 2 and a half years straight. Finally, I asked mother for a red one for this past Christmas and it's been the only purse I've used since.

As perfect as these bags are, they can get boring and one dimensional when it's the only bag you use for 3 years. SO! I'm on a mission to find a new purse to use for the summer. Because as much as I love red and black (can I get a "Go Dawgs!"?), it's not seasonally appropriate.

And this is where I'm stuck.

Anyone who knows me, knows my obsession with coral and turquoise is a little out of control, but I can't resist. But this bag, currently on sale at Nordstrom, is too perfect to pass up. I just can't pick a color.

HELP!

What other perfect summer bags have caught your eye?

And This JUST IN!

Of course, right as I post about all of the new Lilly stuff I'm obsessed with, THIS happens:

THIS is perfection. I need this blazer... now.
Good news is that I'm going into an industry where you can never have enough blazers.

Am I the only one obsessed with this little number?

Currently Swooning: Lilly Love

My obsession with everything Lilly Pulitzer is pretty well documented. In fact, in the past two days, I've worn two Lilly outfits. Which has prompted me to do some searching through the Lilly website. And I think I may be obsessed with this Summer collection. (If only my bank account could handle it).

Brace yourselves, here are a few of my favorites:

I'm a total sucker for anything even REMOTELY nautical.
I love Lilly's rompers, so I bet that this jumpsuit is super comfy and flattering.
Perfect for a breezy day on vacation.
All I need in life is a coral dress like this. OBSESSED.
This is a total "I feel like a goddess today" dress.
I like to think that this perfect little cotton dress would look good on me.
It's questionable, but I'm still in love.
I've been looking for a maxi dress I like for a while now.
This may be it.
I've got this top in coral and love it.
But the "Let's Cha Cha" pattern is TO DIE FOR.
Jean jackets aren't really my thing.
But I've found myself lusting over this one lately.
Maybe it's the white; it gives it a summery feel.
Shift dress in the perfect pattern?
YES PLEASE.
Like I said before, I have this romper in a different pattern and love it.
This may be my next purchase.
Something about this lace.
Goddess dress in this pattern= perfection.
Lord knows this wouldn't fit me right, but this girl can't resist coral and turquoise.

And last, but certainly not least, my favorite dress right now:
GIMME.

What do you NEED in your closet this summer?

I AM BACK!

I've been completely M.I.A. for about three months now I think, and its about time I got it together again.

It is officially summer time for me and there is all kinds of chaos in my life currently. (Explanation to come later). But for right now, I'm at home for my week long break before I go back to Athens. So while I was home, I celebrated my Mom's birthday and she took off work today to spend the day with me. AND WE SAW THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER.

Olympus Has Fallen.

Literally blew my mind today. It's not that often that I find myself wanting to scream during a movie, but today I did. Often. Whoops. I also left the movie wanting to throw some punches. SO much adrenaline pumping.

Anyways, if you are looking for a good movie to see that's out right now-- go see this. You won't regret it. It's a real testament to this nation and what we stand for.

'Merica. That is all.
